Doug & Dave to bring ‘Mass Confusion’ to St. Francis Xavier
National Catholic comedic catechist Doug Brummel, “the man of many faces,” and Dave Wilson, accomplished musician and songwriter, will bring “Mass Confusion” to St. Francis Xavier Church in Medina on Sunday, March 16, and Monday, March 17, at 6:45 p.m.
“Mass Confusion” brings the Mass alive through rich sketches, quirky characterizations, and Holy-Spirit-filled music, leaving audiences open to the treasures of the faith.
Each night of the mission will be different. The event, inside the church at 606 E. Washington St., is free and open to the public.
“Our hope is that the next time people come to an actual Mass, they will appreciate its ancient history and realize they are part of something that has been ripening on the vine for 2000 years,” Brummel said. “We hope they participate more, sing more, pray more, and even become better stewards of all that God has blessed them with.”
The music written for the show includes original liturgical songs. The duo recorded its debut album with acclaimed Christian producer Stephen Leiweke in Nashville, Tennessee, earlier this year. “We hope the music we have composed can help bring each part of the Mass alive in new ways,” Wilson said.
Based in Colorado, both men are husbands and fathers who hope to share the beauty, history and mystery of the Mass in an engaging manner that draws the attention of all ages and backgrounds.
While Lent is traditionally a somber time for fasting and penance, Doug and Dave’s presentation is designed to remind Christians to be joyful, as well.
“We look forward to hosting Doug and Dave,” said Father Tony Sejba, pastor of St. Francis Xavier Parish. “We’ve heard many good things about them, and anticipate that ‘Mass Confusion’ will be a delightful evening where people are uniquely inspired and learn about the source and summit of our faith.”
