Outdoor Mass, parish picnic planned for Feast of the Assumption
Remember when we used to celebrate Mass outside, twice each weekend? When the pandemic prevented us from gathering indoors, St. Francis Xavier responded by moving Mass outdoors. The deck of the Randel House served as the sanctuary, while parishioners sat in lawn chairs in the parking lot. It required considerable flexibility and patience, but made it possible for everyone to worship together and receive the Eucharist.
We know many of you have fond memories of those outdoor Masses. Therefore, our 5 p.m. vigil Mass for the Feast of the Assumption, on Wednesday, Aug. 15, will be held outside from the Randel House deck.
We will need your help to pull this off! From setting up parking cones to directing traffic to serving as ushers and Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, many volunteers will be needed to safely hold this Mass outside. Please take a look at the Google Form below and let us know where you can lend a hand!
Our Parish Picnic will be held inside the Church Basement to avoid the yellowjackets that invited themselves to last year’s late-August event. Help will be needed to set up and clean up from this portion of the event as well.
Together, we can come together and make this happen!
