In his homily at Masses this past weekend, Deacon Mark recommended the practice of reading and praying with Scripture on a regular basis. Here are some of his favorite resources:
Apps
- Hallow — A popular Catholic prayer app that includes daily Bible readings and Fr. Mike Schmitz’s Bible in a Year, along with guided reflections, meditations, Bible stories, homilies, music and so much more (There is a free version of this app, but this is the only app that Deacon Mark has ever paid for!)
- Laudate — A comprehensive Catholic app with daily readings, reflections, a daily Bible verse, and the entire Bible
- Catholic Bible Study App — Offers daily Bible readings, commentaries, and the ability to bookmark passages and highlight important verses. It also includes multiple translations.

- Bible Gateway — This website offers multiple versions of the Bible, including Catholic editions. You can search for passages, bookmark them, and read daily Bible plans. Website: Bible Gateway

- “The Bible Compass: A Catholic’s Guide to Navigating the Scriptures” by Edward Sri — A great introduction for Catholics who want to start reading the Bible with confidence. It helps explain how to understand the Bible from a Catholic perspective.
- “The Great Adventure Bible” by Jeff Cavins — A popular resource for Catholics that organizes Bible readings into a coherent story of salvation history. It comes with a study guide and reading plan.
