Transportation & Arrival/Dismissal Procedures
We work closely with families and local districts to ensure students arrive and depart safely each day. Below you’ll find everything you need to know about transportation options and our arrival/dismissal routines.
Bus Transportation
We encourage all eligible students to take advantage of local district transportation. Please contact your district directly for bus schedules and complete an Intent to Ride form if required.

Please Note: If Medina City Schools close due to inclement weather, St. Francis Xavier will also be closed. Other districts may close independently—always wait for official communication via our Blackboard Connect system.
Morning Arrival Procedures
Arrival Time:
Doors open at 8:30 a.m.
Please do not arrive early to form a a car line in front of the school.
Arrival Options:
Front of School:
Pull up in car line.
Staff will assist your child out of your vehicle.
Preschool parents are asked to use this drop off lane and asked to have their marker in their windshield so staff may unbuckle and remove child from car. No need to get out of your vehicle.
Gym Side:
Once staff arrive, you may use the lane in front of the gym. Pull all the way up to the first cone. Staff will assist your child from the vehicle.
The parking lot is a cell phone-free zone for everyone’s safety.
Fire lanes in front of the school and gym must remain clear. We ask if you need to park to use the spaces provided.
Afternoon
Afternoon Dismissal Procedures
Parking Lot Opens:
Opens at 2:45 p.m.
Please do not form a line in the school drive. Find a parking space on the playground and gym lot.
Dismissal Locations:
Preschool: Dismisses at 3:00 p.m. along the far gym side – families will receive detail information from our Preschool Director.
K–2: Dismissal starts at 3:10 p.m.
Grades 3–8: Dismissal starts at 3:15 p.m.
Pickup Instructions:
Park at the Randel House, playground lot, or school lot.
Meet your child at the big rock near the gym.
Leave promptly to keep flow moving for other parents.
Exit Routes:
Playground Lot: Exit to Rt. 18
Main Lot: Exit to Spring Grove St. (All buses have the right away to depart first. Please wait.)
Note: Tree line lane in the school parking lot must remain clear for easy access.
East Smith Rd. Entrance: Entrance only during school hours until 4 p.m.
Changes to Transportation Plans
If your child’s transportation changes:
Inform the teacher in writing
If urgent or last-minute, call the school office before 2:30 p.m.
Students with changed plans will wait at the front entrance (or indoors during poor weather)
