Thank you St. Martin of Tours Parish for hosting our Stewardship Committee retreat yesterday! We talked about our mission, discovered a surprising number of psychology majors among us, and enjoyed a Zoom call with Patrick Neve, the author of “Save our Parish.” Getting off campus gave us time and space time to contemplate our call to empower all parishioners to fully participate in our parish and live our faith.
Today we celebrate the Passion of John the Baptist. While his life ended in martyrdom, John led a life of faithfulness to God. “He must increase, but I must decrease" (John 3:30)
He is known for preparing the way for the coming of the Messiah. John was a bold preacher and evangelist. He spoke out against the evils of the world and challenged leaders and people in high positions to repent and turn to God.
